In December 2015, Professor Gan Liu, the founder of I-ROAD Technology（At that time, for SKY Traffic Safety Technology Company）, visited TTI (Texas A&M Transportation Instiute) and presented the research, development, and demonstration applications of active light-emitting traffic signs. He also recommended incorporating active light-emitting technology into MUTCD, alongside traditional retroreflective techniques.
